Savision 101

Live Maps is a set of management packs for SCOM with a front-end web browser. The initial installation requires a few steps to add in all of the features and takes approximately 15 minutes if all of the prerequisites are set up in advance:

  1. Check that system requirements and prerequisites are met
  2. Install Live Maps (three management packs)
  3. Install Live Maps web portal

Savision iQ is the Alert Management module powered by ElasticSearch. In order to install this module it is vital that you have a pre-provisioned server with these requirements:

The first step for most users of Live Maps is to discover services straight out of the box using the Authoring Console wizard. The services are based upon the most common management packs used in SCOM such as Exchange 2016, Active Directory, Veeam One, etc. To see the latest list of supported services click here.

Now that you have created services, you can move onto more technical widget-based dashboards. Live Maps supports many types of widgets:

Diagramming in Live Maps allows you to visualize monitored objects in logical groups within a dashboard. You can create dashboards that include geographic mappings, topological/logical network diagrams, floor plans, server-rack layouts, or you can import your own Visio diagram. Nested views can also be created with Live Maps by diagramming. This can be very useful if you have a large quantities of objects that need to be monitored or if you need to sub-divide objects.

Displaying SLA levels in Live Maps is quick and painless. You will be able to create an SLO for end-users, applications, and infrastructure. With Live Maps’ HTML5 portal, you can publish SLA levels on any device.
