Audible alarms are a good way of getting attention in your NOC when a critical SCOM alert is detected.
In this article I will explain how to configure audible alarms in System Center Operations Manager 2007 with Savision Live Maps and how you can add your own custom sounds.
All views in System Center Operations Manager 2007 created with Savision Live Maps allow you to configure audible alarms.
To enable audible alarms start the OpsMgr operations console and select one of the views you have created with Live Maps. Clicking the speaker icon in the toolbar allows you to configure audible alarms per health state / alert severity.
You can add your own sounds by copying your WAV files to the “%ProgramFiles%\System Center Operations Manager 2007\AlarmSounds” directory.
When using System Center 2012 or System Center 2012 R2 – Operations Manager, a folder ‘AlarmSounds’ is to be created first under “%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Console”:
Looking for other sounds? Some very irritating alarm sounds can be found here. Or just google on ‘alarm sounds’ and you will find plenty.
