At Savision, we recently hosted a live online session to introduce our new solution: Unity iQ. The session was presented by Savision’s CTO – Rob Doucette and Co-Founder and VP of Product Management – Dennis Rietvink.
During the session, Rob and Dennis talked about the different IT maturity levels within organizations, how to accomplish getting from one level to the other, and gave a demo to show off the many capabilities of Unity iQ. We have compiled the top questions that were raised at the end of the session by our attendees. Did you miss out on the session? You can still register to watch the on-demand version here.
1. We have SCOM and ServiceNow. Do I need to install Unity on SCOM RMS or it could be on a completely separate server? Is the integration simple and what efforts are required?
You don’t have to install anything on the SCOM server. To configure a SCOM connection in Unity iQ you only have to provide the SCOM server and credentials. The same applies for ServiceNow.
2. Does Unity iQ pull info from both SCOM and ServiceNow, match the services, build the links, services mapping etc., and show on Unity iQ’s dashboard? Does all these happen automatically?
Yes, this does happen automatically in the background. If the services are updated in ServiceNow, we will also update the service definitions. That’s a one-time import and we keep it up to date, but in the meantime, you can at least manually add relevant information to that service map.
3. Where is the Agent installed? For connecting to SolarWinds, is it required to be installed on SolarWinds Server?
Same as with SCOM, you don’t have to install any software on the server, just provide the SolarWinds server name and credentials
4. How do you calculate the financial impact?
This is basically like calculating SLAs. Although this may be hard to define, you give a definition of a cost per hour to calculate the financial impact of an outage.
5. Can we add the company’s logo on the dashboard?
Today, you can’t. Besides being able to customize the columns that are visible in the Service Overview, we are looking into many custom views that you will be able to create based on the rich information in Unity iQ. This is something that is coming up soon.
6. I have a Live Maps license, is this the same as Unity iQ?
Unity iQ and Live Maps are two different solutions. If you are an existing Savision customer, you can contact your Account Manager at email@example.com to know what licensing options are available for you. If you are not yet one of our customers, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Stay tuned for Part II of our Q&A Session!
